Pato O’Ward Gets First IndyCar Win Of 2026 At Mid-Ohio

Pato O'Ward at Mid-Ohio

Pato O’Ward was anything but mid at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Sunday The Arrow McLaren driver led his teammate Christian Lundgaard across the line for the team’s first 1-2 finish in IndyCar.

That’s also how they started, but in the reverse order. Lundgaard led for the first 41 laps of the 90 lap race until making a mistake that opened the door for O’Ward to get by.

O’Ward held on the rest of the way, aside from a few laps during pit cycles, to claim his first win of the season and end a 15-race winless streak that dates back to Toronto last year.

“It’s been a year, it’s been a tough one for sure,” O’Ward said. “I think today is just a perfect example of execution. I waited for the perfect time pounce and from there we just controlled it.”

FULL RESULTS

Lundgaard finished a second behind in second and was followed by Kyle Kirkwood, Rinus VeeKay and points leader Alex Palou.

The series heads next to Nashville Superspeedway on July 19, which is poised to be one of, if not the most-watched IndyCar race in history, as it will follow the FIFA World Cup final on Fox.
