The Honda Ridgeline is dead, long live the Ridgeline.
Honda has confirmed that production of its second-generation midsize unibody pickup will end later this year, but that an all-new one will arrive sometime in 2028, likely as a 2029 model.
“The award-winning Honda Ridgeline has introduced innovative new technologies and features to America’s truck market for two decades, prioritizing features and capabilities recreational truck buyers need and use the most,” Lance Woelfer, American Honda Motor Co.’s vice president of Auto Sales, said in a news release.
“The next Ridgeline, which will continue to be built by our associates in Alabama, will advance this legacy while gaining even more rugged design and capabilities.”

Honda released a teaser image of the new Ridgeline that reveals it will have a traditional pickup profile, unlike the buttressed first-generation 2006 model or the SUV-like second-generation that launched in 2017. Interestingly, the Ridgeline also took a three-model-year hiatus between its first two generations.
Honda redesigned the second-generation Ridgeline in 2021 with a more truck-like front end which was followed by a big sales boost. It also introdced a TrailSport trim in 2024 that added light off-road capability. Ridgeline sales hit an all-time record of 52,001 in 2023 and 48,448 were delivered last year.
As before, the new Ridgeline will be based on the same platform as the Pilot and Passport SUVs and built alongside them at its Alabama factory. Honda announced earlier this year that it is working on a hybrid version of this platform, but didn’t specify if the Ridgeline would be offered with that type of powertrain.
