Classic Recreations has brought an old Ford Mustang to the SEMA Show that’s very new.

The Shelby GT500CR is the first officially licensed carbon fiber-bodied 1967 Shelby GT500 build. The restomod company starts with an original donor Mustang, but fully reengineers it inside and out.

The lightweight body covers a Detroit Speed chassis equipped with the company’s Aluma-Frame front suspension, Quadralink rear suspension and adaptive Nitron Electron-Shocks.

Power is supplied by a Wegner-built supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8 tuned to 1,000 hp, which is sent to the rear wheels through a Suncoast 10-speed transmission, a Panhandle Driveline carbon fiber driveshaft and a Ford 9-inch rear fitted with a Gear FX 8.8 center section.
