North American Car, Truck And Utility Vehicle Of The Year Finalists Revealed
The 2025 North American Car of the Year jury has narrowed its list of contenders for Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the year to nine models, three for each category.
The award is voted on by a panel of 50 automotive journalist and considers all-new or significantly updated models, including imports from outside of North America.
This is in contrast to the American Cars And Racing US-Built Car Of The Year AwardsTM, which requires eligible vehicles to be assembled in the United States.
CAR OF THE YEAR FINALIST: HONDA CIVIC HYBRID
The Honda Civic Hybrid sedan is built in Canada, but hatchbacks are built in the U.S.

CAR OF THE YEAR FINALIST: KIA K4
The Mexican-made Kia K4 replaced the Forte in the automaker’s lineup.

CAR OF THE YEAR FINALIST: TOYOTA CAMRY
The Toyota Camry is built in Kentucky and only available with hybrid powertrains for 2025.
TRUCK OF THE YEAR: FORD RANGER
The Ford Ranger is built in Michigan and offered in a range of models including the high performance Raptor.
TRUCK OF THE YEAR: RAM 1500
The Ram 1500 was updated for 1500 with a new line of turbocharged straight-six-cylinder engines replacing its V8 options.

TRUCK OF THE YEAR: TOYOTA TACOMA
All Toyota Tacomas are built in Mexico now, but it remains the best-selling midsize pickup in the U.S.

UTILITY VEHICLE OF THE YEAR: CHEVROLET EQUINOX EV
The Chevrolet Equinox EV is built in Mexico and currently GM’s lowest priced electric vehicle.

The Alabama-built Hyundai Santa Fe was fully redesigned for 2024 with a boxy look and is offered with gas and hybrid powertrains.
UTILITY VEHICLE OF THE YEAR: VOLKSWAGEN ID.BUZZ
The Volkswagen ID.Buzz is an electric reboot of the iconic minivan that is imported from Germany.
