It was an appropriate price!

A DeLorean DMC-12 originally owned by comedy legend Johnny Carson was auctioned through the Hagerty Marketplace on Friday for $88,808.93.

That echoes the 88 mph Doc Brown’s DeLorean needed to reach in the “Back to the Future” films in order to travel through time.

Carson was an investor in the ill-fated automaker, which was technically headquartered in Detroit, but built its stainless steel sports cars at a factory in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

Carson’s car is number 2,439 of the approximately 9,000 that were ultimately produced.

He famously got stuck inside of it once when its electrical system failed and it was later replaced with a new car.

The car has 89,700 miles on the odometer, less than 2,500 of which have been racked up since 1992, according to its CarFax report.

The coupe, which had an original price of $25,000, was given a $50,000 restoration in 2023.
