It’s a lot for a little truck.

The 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 sits atop the midsize pickup’s lineup at a starting price of $48,395, but you can take it higher … literally and figuratively.

The high performance pickup is available with a Bison Edition package that turns it into an even more extreme off-road machine through a host of mechanical upgrades.

Engineered by American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), the option includes a set of Multimatic jounce control dampers, four steel skid plates, unique steel bumpers, 17-inch wheels with 35-inch mud-terrain tires, fender flares, a full-size spare tire with bed-mounted carrier, all-weather floor mats and plenty of AEV Bison logos.

It’s priced at $11,700, but requires the addition of a $445 safety package with rear collision avoidance for a grand total of $12,145. That brings the price of the truck to $60,540 before any other options boxes are checked.

The Colorado ZR2 comes standard with a 310 hp TurboMax 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that’s rated at 430 lb-ft of torque and a suspension system built around Multimatic DSSV dampers.

It’s designed for high speed off roading, including jumps, but the Bison Edition package adds 1.5 inches of ground clearance, for 12.2 inches total, and is meant to optimize it more for ground-based, rock-crawling and overlanding operations.

Chevy also offers similar Bison Edition packages for the Silverado 1500 ZR2 and heavy duty Silverado 2500 HD ZR2 that share the Colorado’s Mutlimatic DSSV dampers.
