The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona is an electric car that can pretend that it isn’t one.

The battery-powered muscle car is equipped with a piece of technology that Dodge Calls the Fratzonic Chambered Exhuast.

It’s a noisemaker that creates a synthetic engine noise by pumping sound emitted from speakers through a series of channels that wind their way under the rear of the car and out the rear bumper.

The setup is similar to a Bose Wave radio and is designed to create a warmer and more analog sound that what comes directly from the speaker cones.

Dodge is still fine-tuning the final note before production begins this summer, but has offered a sneak peek at what it might sound like in a video promoting the car.

The system also sends vibrations through the car and has the same basic rhythm as a V8 engine’s firing order. The driver can rev it like the car is in neutral or shut it off completely.

But the Charger isn’t the only Stellantis model that is having its V8 replaced by an electric powertrain.

The Ram 1500 REV electric pickup is scheduled to go on sale late this year with a 645 horsepower drivetrain that’s nearly as powerful as the Charger Daytona Scat Pack’s 670 hp setup.

But while that might sound like a prime candidate for the Fratzonic Chambered Exhaust, Tim Kuniskis, who is the CEO of both Dodge and Ram, told American Cars And Racing that it won’t be offered on the Ram.

He said a lot of muscle car owners also have pickups, including himself, so they’re not all looking for the same kind of experience from both vehicles.

That might seem a bit surprising giving the screaming exhaust sound that the old Ram 1500 TRX cranked out, but the Ram 1500 REV isn’t really being positioned as a performance model.

He said the Fratzonic system was patented specifically for the Charger Daytona and there are no plans to spread it around, but also that the Ram 1500 REV has few surprises of its own that will be revealed in a couple of months.
