Rivian is taking the wraps off of its second retail lineup today, Thursday, March 7.

The Rivian R2 is a class size smaller than the midsize R1T and R1S models the brand launched in 2022.

The automaker has released a few teaser images of an R2S SUV ahead of the unveiling, but hasn’t offered a full view, specifications or the price target.

All of that will be coming a 1 p.m. ET during a livestream event that you can watch below.

RIVIAN NAMED MOST SATISFYING BRAND BY OWNERS

It’s also not known if Rivian is only announcing the SUV model, or if there will be a pickup to go with it. The company has filed for a trademark on the R2T name that would go with such a model.

However, some R2 details may have already leaked out.

An eagle-eyed Rivian owner and tech enthusiast found some information hidden on Rivian’s website that hadn’t been published yet.

It suggested the R2 will have a starting price of $47,500 before any tax credits are applied, seating for five, a best 0-60 mph acceleration time of three seconds, up to 9.8 inches of ground clearance and a maximum range of 330 miles per charge.

Rivian did not comment on the report, but did remove the data as soon as it went viral.

The R2 is scheduled to go on sale in the 2026 model year and will be manufactured at a new plant Rivian is building in Georgia.

The R2 line is revealed as an SUV, which looks like a small R1S.

The rear tailgate window opens and the rear quarter windows pop out like with some minivans.

Front and rear seats fold flat to create a flat floor for camping.

It has two glove boxes.

The platform uses a new 4695 battery cell which is larger than the R1’s.

It will be offered in single-motor, dual-motor and tri-motor models all with over 300 miles of range, with the tri-motor capable of accelerating to 60 mph in less than three seconds.

Starting price is $45,000. Reservations are available now, but deliveries don’t begin until the first half of 2026.

A second, even smaller R3 model is revealed as a surprise.

R3 has a frunk, all seats old flat and the tailgate window flips open separately from the rest of the tailgate.

R3X is a high performance version of the R3.

No specifications were offered for the R3 and R3X, but the R3X will have a tri-motor drivetrain.

R2 will initially be built at Rivian’s Normal, Ill., factory before its new Georgia factory is ready. Construction of the Georgia plant has been delayed as a cost-saving measure, Rivian said today.

R3 will launch sometime after R3, but a specific date was not announced.
