Lucid is catching some air.

The American electric automaker just had its second-straight record quarter for deliveries during the April through June period.

The company shipped 2,394 of its Air sedans to customers worldwide, which is up from 1,967 during the first three months of the year.

That puts it on track to meet its latest goal of 9,000 deliveries for the year.

A round of price cuts in February and the launch of the new entry-level Lucid Air Pure RWD helped spur demand.

The $71,400 Air Pure RWD was recently named the American Cars And Racing US-Built Luxury Vehicle of the Year. It has a 430 hp motor, an EPA-rated range of 419 miles per charge and an efficiency rating equivalent to 137 mpg.

Several other trims are available, including the 1,234 hp Air Sapphire, which is priced at $251,400 and can accelerate to 60 mph in 1.89 seconds, according to Lucid, making it the quickest sedan in the world.

U.S. market Lucids are built in Casa Grande, Ariz., but the company opened a second factory in Saudi Arabia last year. The Jeddah-area facility assembles semi knocked-down kits that are manufactured at the Arizona plant.

Its next model is set to be the Gravity SUV, which is expected to have a starting price below the $80,000 threshold for the $7,5000 federal electric vehicle purchase tax credit when production begins in Arizona late this year. The Air is not eligible as the limit for sedans is $55,000.

The seven-passenger Gravity will have a range of 440 miles, a towing capacity of 1,500 pounds and be able to accelerate to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

It features airplane-style fold-down tables for second row passengers and a front trunk, or “frunk” that can double as a bench seat when the vehicle is parked.
