Here’s How To Make The Ford Mustang Mach-E Quicker With A Smartphone And $995
Good news, grease monkeys, you can make the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT quicker without getting greasy.
Ford is offering a Performance Upgrade over-the-air software update for existing 2024 Mustang Mach-E GT SUVs that increases torque from 600 lb-ft to 700 lb-ft and improves their acceleration.
With it, the Mustang Mach-E GT’s 0-60 mph acceleration time drops from 3.8 seconds to 3.3 seconds and its quarter-mile time to 11.8 seconds.
According to Ford, the update can be made via the FordPass smartphone app and “combines innovative powertrain thermal modeling and control algorithms.”

The 2024 Mustang Mach-E GT received a new rear motor that enabled the power boost. The upgrade is also available at the time of purchase and comes standard on the Mach-E GT Rally model.
Prices for the Mustang Mach-E GT currently start at $56,990 including destination fees, but before the Performance Upgrade option box is checked.
Ford notes that the Performance Upgrade makes the Mustang Mach-E GT quicker than the Tesla Model Y Performance, which starts at $52,880 and can hit 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

The Mustang Mach-E GT can also beat the upcoming $71,995 Jeep Wagoneer S, which has a 3.4 second 0-60 mph time that Jeep had been boasting was quickest in the compact electric SUV class.
Ford’s general manager of integrated services, Chet Dhruna, wrote on LinkedIn that “it doesn’t stop here. We are continuing to think about how we can make it even easier to access features and continue to make the ownership experience better over time.”
The 2024 Mustang Mach-E is also quicker at charging. The Extended Range battery pack that comes in the GT now needs 36.8 minutes to fill from 10% to 80%, which is an 8.8-minute improvement, while the Standard Range pack’s time dropped by 5.7 minutes to 32.3 minutes.
