The hybrid Jeep Cherokee has earned its Trail Rated badge. The 2027 Cherokee Trailhawk has been revealed with improved off-road capability compared to the other trims.
The all-wheel-drive model gets a one-inch suspension lift and a two-speed power transfer unit that provides its continuously variable transmission with a low range of gearing. It also comes with the Active Drive II 4×4 system, which includes a Lock Mode for maximum traction along with Auto, Sport, Snow, Sand/Mud and Rock drive modes.
The Cherokee Trailhawk features underbody skid plates, 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, redesigned front and rear fascias for improved approach and departure angles, plus a set of recovery hooks. It retains the Cherokee’s standard 210 hp hybrid power unit and is rated to tow up to 3,500 pounds, while Jeep says it can ford through two feet of water.
The changes drop the fuel economy from 37 mpg combined to 31 mpg combined, due in part to the additional aerodynamic and mechanical drag from the lift and tires.
Interior updates include new Mantis Green upholstery with red stitching and a Black Spun Aluminum shift knob with a red bezel.
“Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk is the real deal, and earned its Trail Rated badge through a gauntlet of testing scenarios,” Jeep brand CEO Branden Coté said. “This SUV blends authentic 4×4 off-road capability that the Trailhawk badge represents, and with hybrid efficiency that is so important to customers in this segment.”
The base price is $44,625 before options, which puts it at the top of a Cherokee lineup that starts at $37,125 for the base model trim. Deliveries are scheduled to begin late this year.
The current generation, Mexican-built Cherokee just launched for the 2026 model year, but Jeep has already confirmed that an all-new Cherokee is in the works that will enter production in 2029 as a 2030 model that will be built at the currently idle Belvidere Assembly plant in Illinois.
