GMC Sierra EV Sets Record With 507-Mile Range
It’s a long hauler.
The GMC Sierra EV Max Range Denali pickup has set a new record for electric vehicle range on a benchmark test.
The full-size truck, which GMC advertises with a 460-mile range, covered 507 miles in a real-world evaluation by Edmunds.com.
Edmunds tests electric vehicles over the same loop, which is split 60/40 between urban and highway driving on roads with speed limits that average out to 40 mph.

Drivers aim to stay within 5 mph of the limit at all times and the trip is monitored by a Racelogic VBOX data recorder.
The Sierra EV’s result beat the previous record held by the 2022 Lucid Air Dream Range Edition sedan by a single mile.
The Sierra EV’s 205 kWh battery pack is nearly twice as big as the Lucid’s, but the boxy 8,800-pound truck also weighs 3,500 pounds more than the sleek sedan.

The Air actually came up short of its EPA-rated range of 520 miles per charge, but the Sierra EV’s advertised figure is more of a GM estimate as it is classified as a heavy duty truck, which does not get an EPA rating.
The Sierra EV also beats the Lucid on price, although no one will call it a deal. The GMC has a starting price of $100,495, while the Lucid, which is no longer offered in the specific trim that was tested, listed for more than $170,000.
