The Ram 1500 TRX Returns With 777 HP

The Ram 1500 TRX has been resurrected.

Ram discontinued the high performance pickup in 2024 along with all of its V8-powered light duty trucks, but is putting it back in production this year.

The TRX is the first model developed under the also-rebooted SRT Performance division and returns with a more powerful version of its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 to reclaim the title of most powerful gas pickup from the 720 hp Ford F-150 Raptor R.

The motor has been boosted from 702 hp and 650 lb-ft to 777 hp and 680 lb-ft with the help of an updated induction system and components from other iterations of the 6.2-liter Hellcat V8. Mary Jagoda, Vice President and Chief Vehicle Engineer for SRT, told American Cars And Racing that the result is a unique engine configuration for the TRX.

Ram says it can accelerate to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, which makes it quicker than the F-150 Raptor R, and hit an electronically restricted 118 mph top speed. The old TRX was officially listed with a 4.5 second 0-60 mph time, but independent testing found it could really do it in less than four seconds.

The 2027 TRX gets all of the updates that the Ram 1500 lineup received in 2025, including a refreshed interior, and the wide body design it shares with the Ram 1500 RHO. The wide track suspension features second-generation Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive dampers and provides 13 inches of wheel travel in front and 14 inches in the rear. The full-time 4×4 system also has high and low 4×4 settings, a Dana 60 rear axle and locking differentials at both ends.

Pricing starts at $102,590, but the TRX comes well equipped with things like leather-upholstery; a suede headliner; heated, ventilated and massaging front seats; a 360-degree camera system; and a hands-free active driving assist that provides lane-centering adaptive cruise control on hundreds of thousands of miles of designated highways.

The TRX logo now features a T. rex head that plays into its nickname and the RAM grill badge is Flame Red. However, its signature look is an optional Bloodshot Night Edition package that adds a black roof, bodyside graphics and red interior highlights.
