NASCAR Clash At Bowman Gray Events Postponed Due To Weather — Here’s What’s Happening

The Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium

The NASCAR season is going to start at least a day later than scheduled.

NASCAR has cancelled all Saturday activities for the exhibition Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium due to the likelihood of snow hitting Winston-Salem, N.C.

Practice, qualifying, and heat races for the Clash main event have been moved to Sunday, while the planned Modified and Sportsman support races will be rescheduled to a later weekend.

The track had been cleared of snow dropped by winter storm Fern, but there is the possibility of significant new accumulation on Friday night and Saturday.

The main Clash event is still scheduled for 8 p.m. ET Sunday. If conditions permit, practice and qualifying heats will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will be followed by the Last Chance Qualifier at 6 p.m. Practice and qualifying will air on FS2, while the Last Chance Qualifier and Clash will be on the Fox broadcast network.

NASCAR hasn’t announced a firm contingency plan if the track isn’t ready for Sunday, but it would likely try to hold the event on Monday or later in the week. The next event on the calendar is Daytona Speedweeks, which starts on Feb. 11 ahead of the Daytona 500 on Feb 15.

The 2024 Clash held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum had to be rescheduled due to weather, but in reverse. NASCAR moved the race from Sunday to Saturday due to a torrential “atmospheric river” that was heading to Los Angeles.

Drivers will compete in four 25-lap heat races of 10 cars each with the top five advancing to the Clash. The remaining 20 drivers will then enter the 75-lap Last Chance Qualifier, with the top two moving on. A final 23rd starting position goes to the driver who finished highest in the 2025 season standings, but didn’t make it through the heats and last chance qualifier.
