Timothy “Mini “Tyrrell won Ram and Kaulig Racing’s ‘Race for the Seat’ competition and a contract to drive for the team for the full 2026 NASCAR Truck Series season.
The late model and ARCA series driver beat 14 competitors over several challenges to secure his seat in the No. 14 truck, which will make its debut in the Fresh From Florida 250 at Daytona International Speedway on February 13.
“I’m just overwhelmed. Winning Race for the Seat is something I never in a million years figured would
happen,” Tyrrell said. “I came into this hoping to learn a thing or two, grow a bit, and see
if I could hang with a bunch of great drivers. I’m thankful from the bottom of my heart for my family, for
everybody who’s been in my corner, and for Ram and Kaulig Racing for this opportunity—taking a chance
on a kid that comes from grassroots racing and elevating me to a professional level. I’m gonna work my
tail off to make everybody proud.”
The addition of Tyrrell completes Kaulig Racing’s plans for its five-truck effort, which includes full-time drivers Brendan Queen, Daniel Dye and Justin Haley, along with a “Free Agent” No. 25 truck that will feature a different driver every week, starting with Tony Stewart at Daytona.
The team plans to keep the name of each Free Agent driver secret until just before each race, but it has revealed one more that will follow Stewart.
As a surprise twist during the final Race for the Seat event, it was announced that the second place finisher would get to drive the No. 25 truck at Martinsville, and Carson Ferguson drove away to win the final late model matchup on the show to grab the spot.
