The Ford Explorer ST is going dark for 2027.

The street performance version of the three-row SUV will be offered with a new Sinister package that includes blacked-out trim and badging, 21-inch gloss-black wheels and amber running lights.

It’s an expansion of the Sinister brand that Ford launched last year as a upgrade kit for the Bronco in the Ford Racing parts catalog.

The 2027 Explorer ST Sinister will also feature the Ford Racing name on its sill plates, which replaces the Ford Performance name found on the current ST.

It’s otherwise a stock Explorer ST with a 385 hp turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, 10-speed automatic transmission, lowered and tuned suspension and performance brakes. Pricing for the 2027 Explorer ST hasn’t been announced, but the 2026 model starts at $56,700.

The package arrives as the Chicago-built Explorer ST’s most direct model, the Dodge Durango, sees its lineup refocused on high performance models. The Durango will only be availble for retail sales with a lineup of V8 engines in 2027. It includes a 360 hp 5.7-liter, a 470 hp 6.4-liter and the 710 hp supercharged 6.2-liter Hellcat V8, respectively priced at $43,675, $50,995, and $80,495.
