Sometimes you get more when you pay less.
The 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has been validated with a top speed of 200 mph. That’s the base $73,495 LT1, no extras required. In fact, options would probably make it slower.
The combination of its slim, low-drag body combined with Chevy’s new 535 hp 6.7-liter V8 is largely responsible for surpassing the outgoing Stingray’s 194 mph top speed along with the draggier 670 hp Corvette Z06’s 195 mph maximum velocity.
For now, you’ll have to step up to the ZR1 or ZR1X trim to find another Corvette that can break the double century mark from the factory and no car on sale today can do it for less than the Stingray’s price.
The 2027 Corvette Grand Sport that shares the Stingray’s motor, but also the Z06’s widebody styling, so it will likely come up short. There’s also a hybrid Grand Sport X on the way with the ZR1X’s 186 hp electric motor driving the front wheels for a combined 721 hp output, but it’s primarily for acceleration and shuts off at 160 mph in the ZR1X.

The Corvette Stingray has 520 lb-ft of torque and can sprint to 60 mph in 2.8 seconds on its way to an 11-second quarter-mile at 128 mph. A Z51 Performance Package is availble for $5,395 that adds a shorter final drive ratio, upgraded brakes, a retuned suspension with magnetic ride control dampers, Michelin Pilot Sport 5 S tires and a limited slip differential plus a unique front splitter and rear spoiler that increase downforce at the expense of some drag.
