Richard Childress Racing announced on Monday that Austin Hill will be driving for the team full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2027.
Hill took over for Kyle Busch after his death this season and continues to run full-time in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series for RCR.
Hill will continue to drive the No. 33 car as RCR has put Busch’s No. 8 on the shelf, unless his son Brexton one day drives for the team.
“I’m extremely thankful to Richard and everyone at RCR for believing in me and giving me this opportunity,” Hill said in a news release. “Every race car driver dreams of competing full time in the NASCAR Cup Series, and to have that opportunity with RCR is something I don’t take for granted. I’ve learned so much this year about what it takes to compete at this level, and I’m excited to take everything I’ve learned during my time at RCR and apply it to this next chapter. I want to do everything I can to help this organization continue moving forward. I’m excited for what’s ahead and ready to get to work.”
The 32-year-old Hill has run 30 Cup Series races for RCR over the past five years and 2027 will be his first full-time stint in the series. He is currently seventh in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series standings and has clinched a spot in The Chase with one race to go in the regular season.
