Jeep’s latest model tips its hat to a hardcore group of Wrangler fans.
The 2027 Wrangler Smoky Mountain Special Edition is the 10th of a dozen Twelve 4 Twelve limited trims Jeep is releasing each month to celebrate the brand’s 85th anniversary.
Jeep usually releases them on the 12th of each month, but delayed this one to coincide with this year’s Smoky Mountain Invasion Jeep enthusiast event.
The appearance and trim package is based on the four-door Wrangler Willys trim. It includes Smoky Mountain hood graphics; 17-inch “smoky black” wheels with either 33-inch or 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 tires; a gloss black grille; a body-color hardtop and body-color fender flares.
The interior gets heated front seats with a unique diamond plate-pattered cloth upholstery that includes an embossed “drop” graphic that shows a 1941 Willys MB on a parachute. There’s also a patterned dash trim; Terracotta stitching; Blaze Orange accents; smoked vent rings; a shift knob graphic with a mama bear and cub; and a special edition tailgate plaque tied to the trim.
Jeep is offering it with the choice of either the Wrangler’s 3.6-liter V6 or turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. The Willys base brings steel rock rails, Dana 44 axles, a locking rear differential with a 4.10 ratio; and a trailer hitch.
“Few places capture the spirit of the Jeep brand quite like Smoky Mountain Invasion,” Branden Coté, Jeep brand CEO, said in a news release. “This event brings together thousands of members of the Jeep community who share a passion for adventure, freedom and the outdoors. The Wrangler Smoky Mountain special edition celebrates that connection, honoring the people, the place and the passion that make this gathering so special, while delivering the legendary capability, open-air freedom and personalization that define every Jeep Wrangler.”
Jeep says the price is $80 more than a “popularly equipped Willys,” but hasn’t detailed exactly what that means. A 2026 Willys with a black hard top and a convenience package that includes heated seats and other features that come on the Smoky Mountain lists for $51,120. The Twelve 4 Twelve lineup is now stacked with Wranglers, including the revived Laredo, the Rewind with 1990s retro style, and the Willys 392.
