Ford Returning To NASCAR O’Reilly Series With Alpha Prime Racing

It’s prime time for Ford in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.

Alpha Prime Racing has announced it is switching from Chevrolet to Ford with a full-season, two-car campaign planned for 2027.  Ford hasn’t had a full-time presence in the series this year, leaving it with a gap between its Truck Series and Cup Series efforts.

The team will begin the transition at the Nu Way 225 Powered by Bobcat and Sauced by Blues Hog at World Wide Technology Raceway and run Mustang-bodied cars for drivers Lavar Scott and Brennan Poole through the end of this season.

Alpha Prime Racing said it will make “a significant investment in Ford technology” and run Roush Yates Engines.

“Our objective throughout this process has been to build a stronger and more sustainable Alpha Prime Racing,”  Jusan Hamilton, President of Alpha Prime Racing  “We see an opportunity to build an organization around a two-car O’Reilly Series program and continue investing in our people, equipment and infrastructure. The Ford Racing platform, Roush Yates Engines and the broader ecosystem surrounding Ford in NASCAR align with what we want Alpha Prime Racing to be.”

“Alpha Prime Racing has grown because of the amazing people we’ve had on this team and the Ford Mustang gives them the best chance to compete moving forward,” Alpha Prime Racing founder Tommy Joe Martins said.

Scott and Poole were 26th and 17th in the points following the Fleetio 200 at Darlington Raceway, which was the team’s last time racing Chevrolet Camaros. Ford drivers Lane Riggs and Chandler Smith are currently first and third in the Truck Series standings heading into the first Chase race at Bristol, while Ryan Blaney is third after the opening round of the Cup Series Chase at Darlington.
