Jack Roush is cleaning out the garage.
The racing and performance vehicle builder and team owner is putting a collection of 38 cars and trucks up for auction at the Mecum Auctions inaugural Nashville event on Saturday, Sept. 26.
The collection includes several NASCAR Cup Series cars campaigned by Roush from 2000-2012 that were driven by the likes of Greg Biffle, Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth.
One is the Ford Fusion that Kenseth drove to victory at Talladega in 2012, which wears a special pink livery to raise awareness for breast cancer research. It was Kenseth’s first career win at Talladega Superspeedway. It’s set to help the cause again as of the proceeds of the sale are earmarked for The National Breast Cancer Foundation.
There’s also the 1997 Ford Mustang Cobra that Tommy Kendall drove to a record 11 straight victories and a third consecutive championship in what was Roush’s final season competing in the SCCA Trans-Am series. The All Sport-sponsored car is one of the most historic and iconic from the era and equipped with a 650 hp 310 cubic-inch V8 and five-speed manual transmission.
Several custom vehicles that were built to develop and promote Roush products are also among the lots, along with some classic Fords like a 1940 Deluxe Coupe and 1950 F-1 pickup.
Roush is also parting ways with a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback he bought in 1971 for $1,100 to restore, which he upgraded with 460 CI short block V8 Pro Stock engine he built.
However, one of the standouts is a 1995 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R, which Roush had a hand in developing, that is all-original with just 29 miles on its odometer. It’s one of just 250 of the rare performance Mustangs that were built that year.
