Car chases in Batman films often involve plenty of staged destruction, but the recent filming of one went very wrong, according to a new report.
Production of “The Batman Part II” in England was briefly paused in October after a “cast member” was run over by the Batmobile during a stunt sequence, The Sun reports.
The injured person has not been publicly identified, but The Sun said it spoke to them and that they were recovering at home following a trip to the hospital for treatment. Filming has since resumed.
The vehicle featured in this Batman universe, which features Robert Pattinson in the titular role, was designed to look like a home-built American muscle car that bears a close resemblance to a modified 1969 Dodge Charger.

Four cars were built for the making of the first movie, but they are not entirely identical. Two are stunt cars powered by 700 hp GM LS3 V8s, one of which has been lightweighted to perform jumping stunts. A third V8-powered car is a “pod car” that is driven by a stunt driver sitting on the roof while Pattison is filmed in the driver’s seat. The fourth is the “hero” car that’s used for beauty shots and close-ups and it is powered by electric motors to operate silently.

Warner Bros. hasn’t said how many of the original cars are being used for the current shoot, or if any new ones have been constructed.

Production had been previously paused when director Matt Reeves had to leave due to a personal matter, but he has since been replaced by Steven Soderbergh and the film remains on track to premiere in Feb. 2028, nearly six years after the original.
