Plug-In Hybrid Jeep Gladiator Pickup Launching In 2025
The Jeep Gladiator is getting a jolt.
Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa has confirmed that a Gladiator 4xe plug-in hybrid model will join the lineup next year.
Filosa shared the news in a LinkedIn post announcing the addition of Tuscadero Pink to the Gladiator’s color options this year.
Technical details were not shared, but it will almost certainly use the same powertrain that’s currently featured in the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, which is built on the same platform as the Gladiator.

The Wrangler 4xe was the best-selling plug-in hybrid in the U.S. last year. It combines a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with two electric motors to provide a maximum 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque when everything is working in concert. It can also operate solely on electric power for up to 22 miles per charge.
The Gladiator 4xe won’t be the only plug-in hybrid pickup on sale next year. The Ram 1500 Ramcharger is also on the way, but it uses a very different type of powertrain.
It’s what’s known as a series hybrid. There’s a large battery pack good for an estimated 145 miles of range on its own and a V6 engine that doesn’t drive the wheels directly, but is used as a generator to provide boosts of power and added range on long trips when charging isn’t available.
Ram also has the fully-electric Ram 1500 REV coming, which will be available in a model that has up to 450 miles of range between charges.

The Gladiator was updated for 2024 along with the Wrangler with a new grille, power-adjustable front seats, a widescreen infotainment system display, side-curtain airbags and several other features.
The Wrangler 4xe in Sport S trim starts at $52,590, which is $6,100 more than one with a V6 or turbocharged four-cylinder and an automatic transmission. It qualifies for a $3,750 federal tax credit on purchases and a $7,500 credit on leases in 2024. Pricing for the Gladiator 4xe will be released closer to when it goes on sale.
