Ty Dillon is stepping back up to the big time.

Dillon will return to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2025 with Kaulig Racing, after spending most of this year with a full-time Truck Series schedule at Rackley WAR.

Dillon has six Cup Series seasons under his belt and drove for Spire Motorsports last year. Prior to that he was with Petty GMS and Germain Racing. Kaulig currently operates out of a building that belonged to the latter before it went defunct.

Dillon has made four starts in the Kaulig No. 16 Cup Series car this year and is racing it at Kansas Speedway. He will be driving the No. 10 next year, which the team will acquire after Stewart-Haas Racing shuts down at the end of the season. It will then relinquish the No. 31, which is currently used by Daniel Hemric, who is leaving the team.

“We’re excited to be able to acquire the rights of the No. 10 for the 2025 Cup Series season,” said Chris Rice, president of Kaulig Racing.  “When we decided to move to the Cup series, the number was not available, so we are looking forward to having familiarity and synergy across both series with the Nos. 10 and 16.”

Dillon’s teammate in the No. 16 car will be A.J. Allmendinger, who is also returning to the Cup Series full-time after spending this year in the Xfinity Series, where he held the 10th playoff spot heading into Kansas.

Earlier this week it was announced that Dillon was being replaced at Rackley WAR by Dawson Sutton for the rest of the season, which fueled speculation that he might be on the move back to the Cup Series.

Dillon missed the Truck Series playoffs, which opened the door for the 18-year-old Sutton, who is the son of team owner Curtis Sutton, to take his seat.

“I am incredibly grateful for another opportunity to run full-time in the Cup Series, and to be able to do it with the men and women at Kaulig Racing means a lot to me personally,” said Dillon.

“They gave me a chance this year to go out and prove myself in a handful of starts. The team and I were able to connect early on and we put together a few strong runs in the No. 16. I’m really looking forward to what 2025 brings with this team. We have a bright future ahead of us and we’re going to give it our all each and every race next season.”
