Honda is returning to CES in January to debut prototypes of the upcoming 0 Series electric car and SUV it will build at its EV hub in Ohio, starting in 2026.

Concepts called the 0 Series Saloon and Space Hub were showcased at the event this year, revealing a styling direction that combines wedge front ends with tapered rear ends for aerodynamic efficiency, although the Space Hub was more like a minivan than what appears to be on the way.

The vehicles are being designed around an all-new electric vehicle architecture that Honda has developed in-house and is unrelated to the General Motors-sourced Ultium platform that the current Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX are built on.

Honda refers to it as “thin, light and wise” and it features a slim battery pack and compact e-Axle drive units. The automaker is aiming to make them among the most efficient electric vehicles with ranges of more than 300 miles per charge using relatively small battery packs.

Honda said it will also be discussing details about the vehicle operating system that will be used and the automated driving technologies with which the cars will be equipped Honda’s production models don’t often stray too far from the prototypes that precede them, so what you see at CES should pretty much be what you’ll see in showrooms.

The 0 Series Saloon concept featured large gullwing doors that offered a view of its two-row interior, but they are unlikely to make it onto the production version. It’s not clear if the cargo area is designed as a trunk — which the Saloon naming would suggest — or a hatchback compartment.

Honda is upgrading its Ohio facilities to allow them to build both electric and internal combustion engine models as part of the EV hub initiative. An Acura Performance EV will also be manufactured there starting late next year. Although it is expanding its fully electric vehicle portfolio, Honda is also continuing to add hybrids to its lineup and has a very interesting one on the way in 2025.

A rebooted Prelude two-door will be on sale in the U.S. before the end of the year. Full details haven’t been released, but it will be a performance-oriented hybrid that’s a bit smaller than the Civic and will probably be based on it to some degree.

Honda hasn’t said yet where it will be manufactured, but it is likely to be sourced from one of its plants in the U.S. or Canada where the Civic is made.
