NASCAR’s crews have cleared the snow off of the Bowman Gray Stadium track where the already postponed Clash was scheduled to run on Monday, but the city of Winston-Salem needs a little more time to take care of the roads. More than 10 inches of snow fell in the city, which is the most it has seen since 2018.
As a result, NASCAR has decided to move the season-opening exhibition event until Wednesday, so that fans can attend without issue.
“Mother Nature threw everything at us, but safety always comes first,” Ben Kennedy, NASCAR Executive Vice President and Chief Venue & Racing Innovations Officer, said in a social media post. “The Clash will now run Wednesday, giving the city time to focus on community needs and ensuring a safer trip for fans and teams. Our crews are working nonstop to get Bowman Gray ready. See you at The Madhouse!”
Practice and qualifying heats are now scheduled for 1:30 p.m ET and will be broadcast on the Fox Sports app. The 75-lap Last Chance Qualifier is set for 4:30 p.m. with the Clash main event following at 6 p.m. ET, both on the Fox broadcast network.
The NASCAR circus next heads to hopefully warmer climes in Florida for the start of Daytona Speedweeks on Feb. 11 ahead of the Daytona 500 on Feb. 15.
