Honda and Acura killed all of the upcoming electric vehicles they had planned for North America earlier this year, but now we know what will be replacing them.

The automaker has announced plans to launch 15 new hybrid models by 2030 with most of them slated for the North American market.

It revealed two prototypes to preview models that will be on sale by 2028. One is called the Honda Hybrid Sedan Prototype, which looks taller than an Accord, and the other the Acura Hybrid SUV Prototype.

Technical details were not shared, but Honda said the new hybrid powertrain it is developing will cost 30% less to produce and be 10% more efficient than its current hybrid system.

Today’s Honda hybrid lineup consists of the Civic, Accord, CR-V and Prelude, but it said that it will have a large “D-Segment” hybrid by 2029, which refers to models like the Pilot, Passport, Odyssey and Ridgeline.

Honda will reassign its planned EV Hub manufacturing operation in Ohio to build hybrids instead and will add hybrid production to all of its U.S. factories to meet increasing demand for the powertrain type. Hybrids now account for more than 50% of Accord and CR-V sales in the U.S.
