The new Ford Bronco Filson luxed-up SUV is the first collaboration between the two American brands, but it’s not the first time you could buy a Filson truck.
More than a decade ago, off-road performance parts specialist AEV offered a line of Jeep Wrangler-based trucks in partnership with the the clothing and outdoor gear company.
The 2014 Brute Filson Edition was a Wrangler that AEV converted into a crew cab pickup truck several years before the Gladiator was launched. It had a 23-inch wheelbase stretch, a five-foot bed AEV-designed components and a 6.4-liter Hemi V8.

It was finished in a forest green paint not unlike the Bronco Filson’s Field Green Metallic and was finished in leather and twill upholstery inspired by Filson’s goods. The price was around $130,000, which included the cost of the new Wrangler needed for the build.

AEV followed it up the next year with the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon AEV Filson Edition, which retained the stock four-door Wrangler body but added AEV parts and the Filson trim. It listed for $70,000 and was offered with 5.7-liter V8 and 6.4-liter V8 powertrain options.

Filson built about a dozen of the Wranglers. Mecum sold one with 15,883 miles in January 2025 for $49,500 and another with 70,000 miles on it traded hands on Bring A Trailer in April of the same year for $33,750. We haven’t been able to find a recent Brute for sale, but they are even rarer with just a half-dozen of the pickups built.

Ford hasn’t announced pricing for the Bronco Filson, but with its premium appointments and the turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 from the Bronco Raptor, a price starting in the $60,000-$70,000 range is likely when the order books open in the fall. Ford is planning to begin deliveries of the new model early next year.
AEV and Ford aren’t at any odds, however. AEV works with Stellantis, GM and Ford on parts and conversions today and recently launched the F-Series Super Duty-based AEV FXL, which is an extreme off-road configuration that rides on towering 40-inch rugged terrain tires.
