Honda is getting out of the electric vehicle game in the U.S. … for now.
The automaker has confirmed that it will soon discontinue the Prologue, its last all-electric model.
“Honda will conclude sales of Prologue later this year following completion of the 2026 model year,” the company told CarBuzz. “Prologue customers will continue to receive full support through our dealer network, including service, parts, and warranty coverage.”
The Prologue is built through a joint venture with General Motors on a platform shared with the Chevrolet Blazer EV.
The midsize SUV is manufactured at GM’s Ramos Arizpe Assembly plant in Mexico, along with the smaller Chevrolet Equinox EV and Cadillac Optiq. GM has not announced any plans to discontinue any of its own electric models built at the factory.
Honda’s move comes 10 months after its sister brand Acura announced the discontinuation of the similarly sized ZDX luxury EV, which was also built by GM at its facility in Spring Hill, Tenn.
The Prologue and ZDX were set to be replaced by new vehicles built in Ohio on a Honda-designed platform, but the automaker has also canceled that program.
“Honda determined that starting production and sales of these three models in current business environment where the demand for EVs is declining significantly would likely result in further losses over the long term,” it said in a news release.

As with many automakers reevaluating their electric vehicle plans, Honda and Acura will be pivoting to hybrids and has 15 new ones on the way by 2030, with the majority heading for the U.S. market.
Among them are a new Honda sedan and Acura SUV that will be built in Ohio along with the first hybrid versions of its D-platform models, the Pilot, Passport and Odyssey, although it has not confirmed exactly which ones.
