The Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Superspeedway was set to get a big boost from the World Cup Finals as its lead-in on Fox, but the game needed extra time and the start was delayed … just in time for rain to arrive.
IndyCar tried for a couple of hours to get the track dry and the race underway, but the rain wouldn’t let up, so the race was postponed until Monday at 2 p.m. CT, 3 p.m. ET.
Kyle Kirkwood will take the green flag alongside hometown hero Josef Newgarden, who is the defending race-winner, with Scott McLaughlin and Alex Palou behind them on the second row.
Palou’s Sunday wasn’t all bad, however, as Spain’s only IndyCar champion was able to cheer his country on to victory in the World Cup final.
Palou was the runner-up at last year’s Nashville race and currently leads the IndyCar season standings with 404 points ahead of Kyle Kirkwood’s 348.
