The $2.75 Million Czinger 21C Spyder Is A 205 MPH Tandem 2-Seater

California’s Czinger Vehicles is a new player on the supercar scene that makes one of the world’s most unusual cars.

The 21C seats two in tandem within a carbon fiber cell sandwiched between 3D-printed aluminum subframes comprised of organic-looking bone-like components.

The all-wheel-drive car is powered by a mid-mounted 750 hp 2.88-liter V8 that can rev to 11,000 rpm and three electric motors. Czinger rates the combined outpu at 1,250 hp.

The production 21C coupe launched last year with a standard 205 mph model that was followed by the 253 mph 21C VMax.

Both can accelerate to 60 mph in 1.9 seconds and the bodywork generates nearly as much downforce at 150 mph as the car’s 3,500-pound weight, which has helped the 21C to claim lap records all all of California’s major road courses, including Laguna Sega and Sonoma Raceway. But now the Los Angeles-based automaker has a way to put some serious wind in your hair.

The 21C Spyder was revealed at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, during Monterey Car Week with a removable roof panel for the cabin. It weighs just 22 pounds more than the coupe thanks in part to a new, well … part.

That’s because it also debuts the company’s new BrakeNode technology, which is a 3D-printed component that combines the brake caliper, suspension upright and hydraulic passages into a single component that reduces unsprung weight and allows the pads and rotors to be replaced without removing the caliper. It said it can retrofit it to the other models and will be incorporating it into future cars.

Unique design and tech comes at a price, of course, and not a small one. The 21C Spyder starts at $2.75 million and just 30 will be built.
