The Scout Traveler Harvester is still more than a year away from customers, but the automaker has revealed a new take on the extended-range electric vehicle that looks like it will be worth the wait for hardcore off-roaders.
The Traveler Harvester is set to launch in early 2028 capable of covering 150 miles on battery power then another 350 miles by using a four-cylinder gasoline engine as a generator. The dual-motor drivetrain’s final output hasn’t been released, but Scout says the vehicle will be rated for around 1,000 lb-ft of torque and able to accelerate to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds.
The Traveler Harvester will be equipped with a solid rear axle, mechanically locking differentials and underbody protection, but the so-called “trail-ready” concept gets a few upgrades to add to its off-road capability.

It features 18-inch beadlock wheels with 35-inch mud terrain tires; metal bumpers with recovery hooks and an integrated winch in front; a roof rack with off-road auxiliary lights; rock rails; and a tailgate-mounted spare tire carrier with a fuel jug. The cabin is trimmed in denim-style upholstery and Red Brick leather and has a slide-open fabric Cabana Top roof.

The vehicle will be on public display at the Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience alongside another concept called the Mountainside, which is a more luxurious take on the Traveler Harvester with 22-inch wheels wrapped in less aggressive street tires and an interior trimmed with woven fabrics, leather and recycled walnut.

Scout plans to follow up the Traveler Harvester with the Terra Harvester pickup. Fully electric versions have been delayed indefinitely, but Scout had previously said they would provide 350 miles of driving range between charges.

The electric models were set to have a 10,000-pound towing capacity, while the Harvesters are expected to be rated for 7,000 pounds. That’s due to the placement of the four-cylinder generator behind the rear axle, although Scout said it is working on the issue and hoping to increase the capacity before production begins.
