And then there were three.
Lexus has unveiled the new 2027 TZ electric SUV, which shares its platform with the upcoming Toyota Highlander and Subaru Getaway. The trio will be built at Toyota’s factory in Georgetown, Ken., starting later this year.
The three-row TZ is similar in size to the internal combustion and hybrid-powered TX, but is an entirely different vehicle that will come with seating for six and standard all-wheel-drive.
Lexus is promising a range of around 300 miles between charges, but hasn’t released full specifications yet. The TZ will be offered with 76.96 kWh and 95.82 kWh battery pack options, and the Highlander gets 320 miles out of the larger pack.
Despite its blunt front end and blocky styling, the TZ has a low .27 drag coefficient and the tires on the available 20-inch and 22-inch wheels are designed with low rolling resistance in mind. Rear-wheel steering will be an option on some trims.

The cabin gets a digital instrument cluster and a large tablet style infotainment system touchscreen with auxiliary touchpad climate controls below it. Top models will feature heated second row seats with ventilation, leg rests and a removable center console.

Interior trim includes a variety of sustainable materials including bamboo fiber-based panels and plant-derived UltraSuede. The cargo area tonneau cover frame and roof rails are made from recycled aluminum.
The TZ will be equipped with Lexus’ latest electronic driver safety tech, which includes lane-centering adaptive cruise control, hands-free traffic jam assist and a proactive driving assist that can intervene if it thinks you’re going around a curve to fast or approaching the car in front of you too quickly.
Pricing and full details on all of the TZ trims will be released closer to when it goes on sale to compete against the Cadillac Vistiq and Lucid Gravity in the US-built three-row luxury EV segment.
