It’s going to be Heim time all the time in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2027.
Reigning Truck Series Champion Corey Heim will replace Riley Herbst at 23XI Racing starting next season.
Heim dominated the 2025 Truck Series with a record 12 wins. he has been running a part-time schedule this year across all of NASCAR’s national series, including four starts so far in 23XI Racing’s No. 67 car.
“For our company, generational drivers only come by every now and then, and I firmly believe that we have one here.” Denny Hamlin, who co-owns the team with Michael Jordan, said during the press conference announcing the deal.
Heim will be driving alongside Tyler Reddick, who signed a contract extension earlier this year, and likely Bubba Wallace, who is reportedly in an option year. Herbst’s future plans haven’t been announced, but The Athletic reports that he is in line for a seat at Legacy Motor Club.
“It was just his race craft in general,” Hamlin said about the decision. “It wasn’t speed or finishes, anything like that, but very similar to Tyler in that when his vehicle is in a certain position, a vulnerable position, he still finds a way to get out of it and make a move whoever he is trying to pass.”
Heim has eight Cup Series races left this season, including the Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville Superspeedway on Sunday, May 30 at 7 p.m. ET.
