A week after it leaked, Slate has made its compact pickup’s price official. The electric two-door compact truck starts at $24,950, not including the yet-to-be-announced shipping fee.
Slate also improved some of the specifications, including the range, which has been increased from the originally advertised 150 miles to 205 miles per charge. However, the planned extended range battery pack option that was supposed to be good for 240 miles driving will no longer be offered.
The rear-mounted electric motor has actually been downgraded from 201 hp to 181 hp, but it still has 195 lb-ft of torque and Slate has boosted the tow rating from 1,000 pounds to 2,000 pounds and the payload rating from 1,433 pounds to 1,550 pounds.
The truck is otherwise very much as expected, with a stripped down interior that doesn’t come standard with a radio or power windows. In fact, Slate has removed the power window option from its accessories list without explanation.
It does have pedestrian-detecting automatic emergency brakes, cruise control, a backup camera and air conditioning, however, to meet at least some modern safety and comfort expectations.

Along with an extensive list of accessories that includes more than 100 different wrap options for the Slate Gray body, two SUV conversion kits are availble to order at launch. The squareback style is an extra $5,000 and the fastback an additional $7,000.

As with all of Slates add-ons, the SUV kits can be installed by an owner, but the company has teamed up with RepairPal for customers to get help with all of the accessories as well as general maintenance.
Reservation holders can now convert their $50 deposits into preorders for an extra $250 and will be able to configure their vehicles closer to when deliveries begin later this year.
