The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 are built on the same platform, so it’s no surprise that the recent reveal of the next generation Chevy has been followed by a next generation GMC.
The 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 lineup has been revealed with new styling, tech and engines. GMC isn’t sharing all of the details yet, but is showing off the trucks in full. The exterior styling is an evolution of the outgoing look, while the interiors get more substantial redesigns, but the most interesting things may be happening under the skin.
As with the Silverado 1500, the Sierra 1500 will be offered with a range of four engines that include the TurboMax 2.7-liter four-cylinder, the DuraMax 3.0-liter straight-six turbodiesel and two all-new small block V8s. The V8s come in 5.7-liter and 6.6-liter displacements, replacing the old 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter engines, but GMC hasn’t yet released their power ratings. All of the motors are paired with 10-speed automatic transmissions.

The Sierra 1500 will be available in Pro, Elevation, AT4, AT4X, Denali, Denali Ultimate trims. The new instrument panel design features a digital instrument cluster and landscape-oriented center touchscreen, which opens up to reveal a hidden compartment behind it in some trims. Top models add a third screen for the front seat passenger.

One new standout mechanical feature is the optional MultiPro console, which has an armrest that flips forward to create a flat table, similar to the Ford F-Series’ Interior Work Surface.

The AT4X continues to use the standard-width body, but is upgraded from the current version with larger 35-inch mud-terrain tires. It has a two-inch lift, Multimatic DSSV performance dampers and both front and rear electronic locking differentials. An AEV Edition package includes unique steel bumpers and wheels along with additional underbody protection.
Pricing and more details will be released closer to when the GMC Sierra 1500 goes on sale late this year.
