Alex Palou’s Indy 500 pole-winning speed of 232.248 mph wasn’t a record, but one was set at Indianapolis Motor Speedway during qualifying this year.
The new Power Rush Monster Jam truck took to the track between sessions to chase the top speed record for monster trucks.
The 12,000-pound truck’s IndyCar-inspired body features front and rear wings and an Aeroscreen-style cockpit.
Driver Camden Murphy, who has previously raced in NASCAR, was behind the wheel of the 1,500 hp supercharged-V8 powered machine as it raced down the back stretch aiming to beat the previous record of 101.84 mph, which he did with a 103 mph run.
According to Monster Jam, the speed was verified with radar, LiDAR, and GPS monitoring.
